Art Direction & Execution

For over 5 and a half years I developed and overlooked Belazu’s photography and videography, find some examples below.

Firstly, we reviewed the brand’s bank of images and realised the pack shots were both uninviting and out of date.

The pack shots had been taken from different angles, with different lighting and felt very flat. In order to represent the brand to its best, we had to focus on taking pictures of over 200 packs and over 300 raw products.

II. Recipe Photography

A high end, chef-supported brand like Belazu decided to generate content by making recipes using their products, what could go wrong? Forgetting their final consumer, the home cooks.

The brand hired a few freelancers through the years but the recipes created didn’t attract people enough to recreate these dishes at home as they were far too complicated for an after work meal.

On a monthly basis, we hosted recipe shoots of easy and complicated recipes to give everyone a taste of what they could be making at home whilst generating a little bit of buzz online.

My Big Fat Belazu Xmas

For the last few Christmases we created My Big Fat Belazu Xmas, where we took inspiration from Mediterranean countries’ festive cuisines but gave the recipes our Belazu twist. The first 2 countries featured were Italy and Spain.

III. Creative Photography

Selling products in a jar might look like a very simple and straight forward task. When products have names consumers have never heard of like Zhoug or Chermoula, what can you do to drive sales?

I called this project Bed of Ingredients. The name is quite explicit, the idea was to lay the jar on a bed of its own ingredients, in order to bring flavour to life through striking, colourful visuals.

IV. Videography

The last part of the project was generation audiovisual content. We created product videos for the Belazu website, achievement videos, competition videos and some recipe videos.
